HARDY did not begin with a ready-made laboratory or a major defence contract. The team moved from the loss of a previous business, through rebuilding manufacturing and learning plywood structures in depth, to unmanned ground systems designed to protect people.
A STORY OF REBUILDING
Russian aggression destroyed the previous business and material assets.
Recovery required time, a new manufacturing base and the determination to begin again. The route back into entrepreneurship started with plywood products — a locally available material that can be processed, repeated and repaired quickly.
The point of entry: plywood manufacturing
Furniture, interactive surfaces, mobile modules and other plywood products created a practical school of design: digital cutting, joints, protective coatings, repeatable assembly, repair and dimensional control.
Over time, the material’s potential and structural reserve became clear. A layered plywood composite with a textured Raptor coating was not merely a temporary substitute for metal but a distinct engineering architecture: light, accessible, repairable and suited to fast production iterations.

Less dependence on scarce materials and a route to scale production with accessible equipment.
Fast design iteration
User feedback can move more quickly into a drawing, a manufactured part and a repeat test.
Repairability
A damaged element can be replaced without rebuilding a complex monolithic metal shell.

More of the budget can support drive, energy, communications, sensors and payloads.

Practical understanding of the military task
Members of the team have years of military-applied and field-training experience. It created respect for discipline, routes, concealment, load, time and simple user actions. That experience helps us ask better engineering questions, while current military feedback remains essential.
