Solution overview

A compact high-speed platform for tasks where deployment time and rational mission cost matter more than platform recovery.

UAH 150,000public price
up to 25 km/hspeed
up to 30 kgpayload

Purpose

What the platform does

VANGUARD performs authorised one-way, engineering and strike roles, ammunition delivery or breaching tasks under the command of an authorised operator.

Operational value

What the unit receives

  • fast deployment of a compact platform;
  • mission configuration with controlled interfaces;
  • serially repeatable composite construction.

Mission roles

What the platform is built for

One-way missions

Rapid movement to a defined area when platform recovery is not the primary requirement.

Engineering tasks

Remote delivery of specialist payloads into a hazardous section.

Ammunition delivery

Transporting a compact mission load without exposing a person.

Strike role

Breaching or another authorised mission with a human in the command loop.

MATERIAL UNDER LOAD

HARDY VANGUARD: evidence, calculation and a steel control

The comparison keeps the exterior geometry and load concept constant and changes only the shell material. This makes the difference in damage geometry and thermal behaviour clear and directly comparable.

12.6 / 47.1 kg/m²18 mm plywood / 6 mm steel panel mass
3.74×steel panel mass ratio at the same area
0.96–1.29×directional E·t³ panel index: plywood versus steel
≈274–327×steel-to-plywood thermal-conductivity ratio

Basis: ρplywood ≈ 700 kg/m³; ρsteel = 7,850 kg/m³; plywood E = 7.452–10.048 GPa; steel E = 210 GPa; λplywood = 0.147–0.175 W/(m·K); λsteel = 48 W/(m·K). E·t³ is a panel screening index only. Complete-body response depends on ribs, joints, openings, supports, speed, mass, contact geometry and duration.

01 / COLLISION

How damage starts and propagates

The compact wedge-shaped VANGUARD body concentrates collision load at the nose. The plywood architecture creates a local replaceable zone, while a thin steel shell transfers plastic deformation farther across the panel.

02 / IMPULSE

The event ends; the inspection begins

In dense packaging, retention of the battery, drive units and electronics matters as much as the panels. Those mounts determine serviceability after an impulse.

03 / THERMAL PATTERN

Identical heat sources; different shell response

The small body area makes internal thermal separation especially important: local hot components must not overheat the battery or controller.

04 / PROGRESSIVE FAILURE

What happens as the load increases

Plywood does not make the vehicle indestructible. Its practical value is that damage can remain visible, local and repairable before the load reaches critical joints or internal equipment.

01

Surface trace

Raptor-coating abrasion, scratches and a shallow edge mark. Geometry and function remain unchanged.

02

Local crushing

Veneer compression, a small layered chip or short delamination near the contact or fastener. Inspection and a local repair are required.

03

Joint displacement

A joint can open, an angle connector can deform, or a fastener can pull through. Alignment, drive mounts and retained equipment must be checked.

04

Functional failure

At higher energy the panel or rib can fracture, equipment can shift and mobility can be lost. The damaged module must be replaced; no protection claim is implied.

The transition points depend on mass, actual speed, angle and area of contact, support conditions, moisture, manufacturing quality and the final configuration. They must be established by instrumented tests for each model.

What these images prove — and what they do not

They make the expected load path, repair zone and thermal-spreading difference understandable and tie each statement to published material properties. Except for the labelled FLEX photographs, they are not measured test images, FEA results, ballistic certification or a promise of an identical damage pattern. Exact validation requires the final CAD, configured mass, joints, boundary conditions, measured velocity and an instrumented test.

STRUCTURAL ARCHITECTURE

A plywood monocoque, not decorative cladding

The current HARDY body is a load-sharing plywood box with plywood stiffening ribs, 3 mm steel angle connectors, industrial bearings and local metal interfaces. Its performance comes from the closed geometry, rib spacing, joints and quality control — not from a claim that plywood is equivalent to armour steel.
